DISOBEDIENCE

EDITOr's

LETTER

From Hong Kong to Chile, Lebanon, Italy, the United States and France, the calls to revolt against abuse and injustice have multiplied rapidly, reminding us that “disobedience” is not the prerogative of a temperamental teenager in the midst of an existential crisis, but rather an act of necessity for the amelioration of our collective condition. Disobedience is Colin Kaepernick kneeling while the American anthem played during NFL games to protest police violence against African Americans. Disobedience is Carola Rackete, the German activist commander of the Sea-Watch 3 boat, arrested by the Italian government in Lampedusa for rescuing migrants from drowning in the middle of the Mediterranean...

“DISOBEDIENCE, IN THE EYES OF ANY ONE WHO HAS READ HISTORY, IS MAN'S ORIGINAL VIRTUE.

IT IS THROUGH DISOBEDIENCE THAT PROGRESS

HAS BEEN MADE...”

OSCAR WILDE

FASHION STORIES

From BDSM nuns photographed in New York City streets by Matthew Brookes, to rebellious family values immortalized by Toby Coulson, disobedience manifests itself through different forms.

Always with style.

ALEXIS LANGLOIS & CO

With three short films, director Alexis Langlois has established himself
in the queer movie industry thanks to his team of astounding actresses and an unusual sense of comedy that could possibly change what is expected from indie movies.

KEVIN GERMANIER

Kevin Germanier, whose extravagant garments have already won many celebrities heart, is about to revolutionize the fashion industry
through the use of waste textile upgraded with glitter and crystals.

CHRISTIAN YAV

New star of contemporary dance, Belgian choreographer and dancer Christian Yav has in only a few years time given a quasi-political dimension to body language.

THE OTHER FACE

OF FASHION

In order to protect our identity and privacy, fashion designers have
decided to block both facial recognition and status monitoring by doing something they are the best at: making clothes.

lous and the yakuza

Singer Lous, along with her Yakuza, promises to reshuffle the cards of the R&B song of 2020. Having already been dealt a hard hand by life, the young Afro-Belgian singer has fought hard to secure her place in the French-speaking music scene.

JULIEN CREUZET

At 33 years-old, Julien Creuzet is one of the new rising stars of the
contemporary art scene. His work, full of colonial History, which has
been already exhibitied in major events such as FIAC in Paris or Frieze
Art Fair in London, offers a rich and mixed vision of the world that
leaves Western art facing its own ethnocentrism.

THE BEAUTY AND

THE FIST

At a time when our society is full of tweets and videos of influencers and youtubers, blogging and vlogging has transformed as a form of resistance. The proof: a make-up tutorial that has become a militant tool on the internet.

WHICH WAY THE

WHISTLE BLOWS

#MeToo, Panama Papers, NSA, impeachment... This past decade has paced itself at the rhythm of political and societal scandals exposed by whistleblowers. A phenomenon to which the fashion industry, known for its abuses of power, is no exception.

SOKO

Singer and actress Soko is finally back to music with her third album.

A romantic and reflective opus in which she is finally accepting every emotion. A queer and spiritual rainbow made to be embraced to the fullest.
